Q: What ages of children can enroll in lessons?
A: We enroll children from the age of three. As all children develop differently at this age it’s best for us to meet your child before making a decision. A no-obligation trial lesson will allow us to advise you best.

Q: Do you offer a free trial lesson?
A:. We offer a no obligation first lesson which is to be paid for on the day of the lesson. If you like the lesson, then you can enroll for the remainder of the term.

Q: I’m an adult and I’ve never had music lesson – can you teach me?
A: If you have an interest in learning music, it is never too late to start. We have lots of experience with students of all ages. We’d love to help you accomplish your musical goals.

Q: Do I need an instrument?
A: We recommend that you have an instrument to practice on from the first lesson. This helps to retain what is taught in the lesson and helps to set a good practice regime. To enable this we offer rentals in some instruments.

Q: How often do students take lessons?
A: We recommend that you take one lesson per week.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: At Learn to Play we require one terms advance notice of your intention to cease your musical education.

Q: How do I know my teacher is safe and qualified?
A: All of our teachers have a Working with Childrens check and have gone through a rigorous interview, background check and training processes.This ensures that we have the best teachers available to offer you an exceptional music lessons experience.

Q: Can I pay when I get to the lesson?
A: Lessons are invoiced by the school term and payment must be made in full when the term commences.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We accept Cheque, Direct Credit or EFTPOS.

Q: What is your rescheduling policy?
A: Rescheduling lessons can be arranged if you provide a minimum of 24 hours notice before the lesson is scheduled to occur. Lessons must be made up by the end of the term in which the lesson was originally scheduled. Make up lessons are subject to studio and instructor availability.

In the event that a lesson is not made up prior to the end of term it is considered forfeit. A maximum of two lessons can be rescheduled per term.

Q: How far in advance do I need to schedule my first lesson?
A: As long as there is availablilty, we can start the next day.

Q: What will I learn in the lessons?
A: You will learn how to read notation and rhythm, how to play your chosen instrument and technique building and aural skills.

Q: How long will I have to take lessons?
A: The amount of lessons you take depends on your specific goals, how often you are able to practice, and how often you attend lessons. Some students take lessons for months; some for years. Some of the more serious students take lessons throughout their entire lives. You ultimately make that decision based on what you want to accomplish.

Q: How long until I see some results?
A: You control your own results! If you practice regularly and consistently you will increase your ability. A practice notebook is provided for you to record your practice times. Your teacher uses this notebook to record what you covered in the lesson and what you should practice for the next lesson. You can use this notebook to track your progress throughout the course of your lessons.
